RMIT ALUMNI GREEN BUSINESS SHOWCASE 2024
The RMIT Alumni Green Business Showcase 2024 is a collaborative initiative between VAN•HOA and RMIT Alumni Vietnam, with the shared goal of creating an exhibition that both inspires and sparks practical solutions for businesses.
The challenge extended beyond crafting an impactful exhibition; it was about designing an experience that truly embodied sustainability, from materials and processes to post-event reuse. Rising to that challenge, the VAN•HOA team delivered a holistic solution: from concept development and visual identity, to booth design, merch, POSM, and an immersive spatial experience.
The project was developed in collaboration with visual artist Tran Nguyen Trung Tin, known for his signature Maximalist style. As the Creative Advisor, Tin helped infuse the exhibition with a distinct aesthetic and imaginative flair, aligning with the showcase’s core theme of sustainable business innovation.

CIRCO DESIGN APPROACH
During the design process, VAN•HOA observed that many marketing and branding efforts, particularly at events, unintentionally generate significant waste. Many beautifully crafted materials and installations are used once only to be discarded later.
To counter this, we adopted the CIRCO Circular Design Method, developed in the Netherlands and introduced in Vietnam by GIZ. CIRCO encourages designers to consider the entire lifecycle of a product, from creation and utility to reuse and regeneration. More than just a methodology, it fosters a sustainable mindset that transforms the entire creative process.
THE GREEN SPIRAL CONCEPT
In response to a brief that emphasized reusability and recyclability, VAN•HOA developed the Green Spiral concept, a symbol of continuous movement and circularity. The idea was embedded throughout: from spatial layout and material selection to booth construction and modular installation. Every element was designed for ease of assembly, upgrade, and reuse, enabling efficient execution and future adaptability.
A highlight of the project was the use of eco-friendly materials such as wood and fabric. Booths were built for modularity, easy to assemble, disassemble, and repurpose, thus extending their lifecycle across future exhibitions and events.

APPLICATION IN EXHIBITION DESIGN
The showcase booths were created based on the principles of Reduce – Reuse – Recycle, using a minimal structure of three vertical posts, four wooden connectors, and a tensioned fabric surface. Without glue or non-recyclable fasteners, the entire setup was quick to assemble and simple to repurpose for various contexts.

Beyond individual booths, the exhibition was designed as a physical Green Spiral space, guiding visitors through stories of creativity, sustainability experiments, and environmentally responsible business models.

The exhibition brought together 15 pioneering green businesses, including Jamlos, Bobi Craft, The Curator, Forêt et Feu, and GreenMat. With the Green Spiral concept, each booth became a unique visual statement communicating a strong sustainability message while reflecting each brand’s distinctive identity.

Through this project, VAN•HOA reaffirms the role of creative design in promoting sustainability. We believe creativity is not only artistic expression but also the starting point of a circular process, laying the foundation for businesses to embrace ESG values and inspire lasting change.
